An exciting opportunity for a healthcare assistant has emerged within Treliske’s Pre Op Assessment. Working under the guidance of the registered nurses, you will help ensure that the assessment, development, implementation, and evaluation of individual programs of care are delivered as efficiently as possible while acknowledging and respecting each patient’s rights and beliefs at all times. The position holder will work in accordance with established standards, protocols, and competencies, assist in the health assessment of patients listed for elective surgery, and assume delegated responsibility for appropriately identified patients. You will be a competent pre-operative assessment senior support worker and exhibit good clinical skills and knowledge within the pre-operative setting.

Main duties of the job

To offer elective surgical patients a comprehensive and adaptable pre-operative evaluation screening service. This will include:

  • Observations
  • ECG recording
  • puncture of the venue
  • Taking a basic history in accordance with a protocol to determine surgical fitness
  • Finishing up patient records
  • will support the pre-operative evaluation of each patient individually.
  • will help ensure that Trust resources are used effectively.
  • will take part in the shift schedule for the pre-operative evaluation.
  • When necessary, I will cover at Treliske Central Pre Op.
